Personage of Day: Johannes SCHNEIDER

The gate of mercy (The Jubilee Year of Mercy and the celebration of Eucharist as the Gate of Mecy) Feast of St. Bridget of Sweden, the nun, and a patron saint of Europe Personage of Day: Johannes SCHNEIDER Johannes Schneider was born on January 11, 1842 in Mieszkowice, Silesia, as the son of a poor farmer family. His parish priest made it possible for him to visit the college in Nysa. After he had accomplished his theological studies in Wroclaw he received the ordination to priesthood on the 1st of July, 1849. Johannes Schneider was very open social and charitable issues and 1854 the bishop entrusted him with the task to found an association which was supposed to halo socially endangered house maids. These young women and girls came into the cities looking for work. While searching for a job and accommodations they were often left without help and found themselves forced into prostitution. Johannes Schneider founded the Society of the Blessed Virgin Mary to help the young girls. The society developed into the Congregation of Mary Immaculate Sisters. His high expectations towards his Sisters and collaborators as well as the unstable situation of the Society of the Blessed Virgin Mary lead to a fluctuation of employees. Shortly before his death on the 7th of December in 1876, however, the society was given the permission by the government to...

PRAY TODAY…

Prayer for the beatification of the Servant of God Fr. Robert Spiske Almighty and eternal God, grant fame to Your faithful servant, Father Robert Spiske, who zealously worked for the glory of Your name and founded a new religious family of the Sisters of St. Jadwiga. God has no hands but our hands to do his work today; God has no feet but our feet to lead others in his way; God has no voice but our voice to tell others how he died; And, God has no help but our help to lead them to his side. The LITURGICAL FORMULA OF THE HOLY MASS IN HONOUR OF SAINT MARY MAGDALENE

COLLECT O God, whose Only Begotten Son entrusted Mary Magdalene before all others with announcing the great joy of the Resurrection, grant, we pray, that through her intercession and example we may proclaim the living Christ and come to see him reigning in your glory. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. FIRST READING 2 Cor 5:14-17 The reading from the second Letter of Saint Paul to Corinthians. Brothers and sisters: the love of Christ impels us, once we have come to the conviction that one died for all; therefore, all have died. He indeed died for all, so that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. Consequently, from now on we regard no one according to the flesh; even if we once knew Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know him so no longer. So whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come. The Word of the Lord. RESPONSORIAL PSALM Ps 118 (117), 1 i 4. 13-14. 22 i 24 (R.: por. 1a) R. My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God. O God, you are my God whom I seek; for you my flesh pines and my...
