On 18 July, about 5.00 pm a group of 100 young Colombians arrived to Wrocław from Bogotá, their capital city.
In oncoming days another pilgrims from the northwest part of South America will arrive to our city, where there are going to experience the first stage of World Youth Days – Days in Dioceses.
Near the Divine Providence parish, Colombians were welcomed by photojournalists from Wrocław Preparation Department .
“The volunteers were charmed by the visitors’ openness and joyful attitude. Every single person leaving the plane was greeting us with a happy <<dzień dobry>> (good afternoon trans. note)“ says Klara Stryjewska, a photojournalist. “The visitors were amazingly open, nobody was scared, everyone wanted to take a picture with us.” she continues laughing.
While interviewing the visitors, Magdalena Juda was amused by one Colombian’s question: “Does polish weather always look this way? We were expecting summer here…”
Colombians have also prepared some gifts for the greeting volunteers: regional sweets and wrist stripes with Colombia’s national colours. Poles returned the favour with Michałki.
